Seven Songs

Suburban Mum tagged me and here is the deal:

The rules:-
List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now, shaping your spring. Post these instructions in your blog along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they’re listening to.

First I had to have a little chuckle about the line ‘shaping your spring’ as the only thing currently shaping my spring is the unbelievable amount of sodding bind weed slowly strangling the life out of everything in my garden. But that’s by the by – moving on to music, if I find 7 songs that are doing it for me right now I’ll be amazed… Here goes.. (links will open in a new window)

Fiona Apple – Paper Bag:
Fiona Apple has been around for years but she hasn’t released any albums that I know of for quite some time. The last album I have is from around 1998 and its one of those ones that you can play from start to finish without forwarding through any of the songs.

High Contrast – Kiss Kiss Bang Bang:
This is on my iPod because it really motivates me on the treadmill in the mornings.

Quantic – Life In The Rain:
Could be mistaken as the theme tune for living in the UK. I have three Quantic CD’s in my car because they are chilled out happy tunes perfect for driving. This particular track has been used on The Collective Moutain Bike DVD and therefore incorporates some stunning video footage and mountain biking.. if you don’t watch it all the way through – there is something a bit wrong with you.

System Of A Down – Chop Suey:
I am NO lover of rock but there is a reason for my liking this tune and that reason is my lovely man who has on regular occasions jumped out of bed, set this track in the cd player and stood at the edge of the bed in his boxers jigging around miming the words to me in my face, occasionally poking the air with his index fingers to punctuate the end of each sentence and then finally breaking down for the drum session in the style of someone with a bee in their hair. So don’t have to love rock to appreciate some good early morning weekend humour courtesy of a scantily clad fit young man and a band full of tattooed beardy weirdies. Always gets me laughing.. right before I eject my foot swiftly out from under the duvet and straight into his cods.

Weezer – Island In The Sun:
The other day I was looking for clips of a movie I saw some time ago called The Station Agent. This song was one of the tracks feature in the movie and I was reminded of it while I was watching a clip of the movie the other day.

Tube & Berger feat. Chrissie Hynde – Straight Ahead:
This is another treadmill song but it also has a fantastic video. I’m not sure what I like more – this video or Wils version of it, usually carried out in the kitchen when he’s donning the marigolds!

Radiohead – Karma Police:
I love this track – its what I call a repeater. A track that I have on my iPod or PC and listen to it on repeat for 20 or 30 mins at a time… There’s no better way to get depressed!
